Fleadh

Got back from the Fleadh Monday afternoon and it was well worth the trip.

Masterclasses I attended two Masterclasses. One was on Video on Demand which to be honest seemed to cause more confusion than clarity. Basically there are all sorts of ‘indie’ video on demand services across the globe and some spoke at the event. They all appear to have different business models and currently revenue seems low. Someone in the audience made the point I would have made had I not been very ill from the previously night’s drinkies. That point is surely apple will come along and provide a full VOD service (they currently kinda do anyway) and take over the market. That would be my prediction too? The second masterclass was with Ted Hope. He spoke about his career and whilst I know some people didn’t feel it practical enough I liked it a lot. They seemed to record it so hopefully it will appear soon?

I always make a point of going to all the Shorts on the Saturday and again it was a long few hours but loved it. High points for me were:-

An Cosc (Nicely shot) / King of the Waves / The Good Doctor (obviously) / Tufty (obviously) / The Mill (cinematography by Suzie Lavelle was stunning)
Dental Breakdown / Moore St Masala / Mr Foley

As always never made the features but will make a point of catching “One Hundred Mornings” / “Savages” and “His and Hers” in the coming months.
